Glue: $20 Million Series A Raised To Pioneer Agentic Team Chat Platform

Glue, a company developing an AI-native collaboration platform, has raised $20 million in a Series A funding round to expand its vision of “agentic team chat.” Abstract Ventures led the round with participation from Chapter One, Goldcrest Capital, and Craft Ventures, which incubated the company. The funding will support Glue’s product development, infrastructure scaling, and hiring across engineering, design, and go-to-market functions.

The company aims to redefine workplace communication by embedding Model Context Protocol (MCP)-powered artificial intelligence directly into team chat. MCP technology enables AI systems to access and act on context across thousands of software tools, giving users the ability to execute workflows and retrieve data from integrated applications without leaving their chat environment.

Glue has developed what it describes as the largest in-app MCP directory, featuring 35 applications available for instant installation and support for thousands more through custom MCP servers. This ecosystem enables teams to integrate internal tools and external software into one unified workspace, allowing Glue’s AI to select the appropriate tool or service for each task automatically.

Unlike AI assistants that function as standalone services, Glue positions itself as a multiplayer communication hub built around collaboration between humans and agents. It supports multiple large language models—including GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, and open-source models such as Moonshot’s Kimi K2—and provides an architecture optimized for multi-agent workflows.

The platform distinguishes itself from other chat-based workspaces with its thread-and-group model, designed to reduce noise and improve context management. This structure enables conversations to stay focused on goals and outcomes, rather than becoming fragmented discussions. Users can interact seamlessly with connected tools such as Linear, Notion, Sentry, Vercel, and Zapier, moving information fluidly between systems.

Glue’s philosophy is grounded in open data principles, emphasizing that user data belongs to the customer rather than the platform. The company envisions its agentic chat model as the next step in digital collaboration, where both humans and AI systems contribute dynamically to team productivity.

Glue was co-founded by David Sacks and Evan Owen. And the company said it is actively hiring.

KEY QUOTES:

“MCP is a game changer. We built Glue from the ground up as an AI-native platform, and now with MCP, we can deliver the ultimate coworking space for humans and agents. MCP makes Glue exponentially more powerful. The future is agentic.”

Evan Owen, co-founder and CEO of Glue

“Collaboration software has remained static while AI advances rapidly. Glue represents the future: a platform where agents and humans can work side by side, in context, with real impact.”
