GMS Inc., a North American distributor of specialty building products, announced it has acquired the assets of Above Interior Distributors, Inc., a supplier of specialty acoustical products, ceilings, and related building materials serving the Miami-Dade metropolitan area and South Florida.
Above Interior operates a location supporting contractors and construction professionals across South Florida. The acquisition expands GMS’s coverage in the region and strengthens its distribution of specialty acoustical and ceiling products.
Following the transaction, Above Interior will continue operating under its existing brand as part of GMS Southeast. Founder and President Jesus Valido will remain in charge of the business, maintaining operational continuity for customers, suppliers and employees.
The deal further broadens GMS’s presence across South Florida and surrounding areas as the company continues expanding its network and product distribution capabilities for contractors in the region.
Founded in 1971, GMS operates a network of more than 320 distribution centers across the United States and Canada. The company distributes wallboard, ceilings, steel framing and complementary building products, and also runs nearly 100 tool sales, rental and service centers supporting residential and commercial contractors.
GMS is a wholly owned subsidiary of SRS Distribution, one of the largest wholesale distributors in the United States.
