Golden Child Raises $37 Million to Launch Science-Backed Fresh Dog Food Brand

Golden Child, a Miami-based fresh dog food company, has emerged from stealth with 37 million dollars in funding from Atomic, A*, and Redpoint Ventures. The company is introducing a new class of fresh dog food built around veterinary nutrition science, culinary craftsmanship, and a proprietary supply chain designed to meet the same standards as human food delivery.

Golden Child was co-founded in 2025 by Quentin Lacornerie, former VP of Product Management at Hims & Hers, and Hims & Hers co-founder Jack Abraham, after Abraham’s dog fell ill due to nutritional gaps in one of the market’s most expensive premium fresh foods. The founding team includes a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, a nutrition scientist, a classically trained chef, and a fresh food supply chain expert, drawing on experience from The Farmer’s Dog, HelloFresh, Royal Canin, Nestlé Purina, and Pepperidge Farm.

The product line is structured around two formats. Mains are protein-based fresh meals formulated for a dog’s activity and energy levels, incorporating prebiotic fiber, post-biotics, and Omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, starting at approximately three dollars per day. Drizzles are functional flavor toppers featuring collagen, biotin, eggshell membrane, and vitamins, starting at 19.95 dollars per container. Initial flavors span chicken and beef Mains alongside Golden Braised Beef, Golden Roast Chicken, and Golden Spoon Peanut Butter Drizzles. All recipes are produced in U.S.-based facilities under rigorous food safety standards.

The U.S. fresh pet food market is projected to grow by 3.2 billion dollars by 2029. With 68 million U.S. households owning a dog and Gen Z and millennials now accounting for more than half of pet parents, Golden Child is entering a category it believes has seen limited meaningful innovation in the past fifteen years.

KEY QUOTES:

“We created Golden Child because fresh alone isn’t enough. Too much of the category has focused on refrigeration as the primary innovation. Our founding team, which includes veterinary nutrition and supply chain experts, has taken a thoughtful approach from the onset to making dog food that is of top quality, focused on digestibility, nutrition, and taste.”

Quentin Lacornerie, Co-Founder, Golden Child

“Golden Child has prioritized nutrition not just for freshness but to create a meal that is packed with ultimate goodness for the pet through nutraceuticals and whole food.”

Dr. Blaire Aldridge, Vice President of Research and Development, Golden Child

“We approached Drizzles the way we would a finishing sauce in a restaurant kitchen: layered, intentional, and transformative. They’re not just an add-on; they complete the dish.”

Chef Erin Acevedo, VP of Culinary, Golden Child
