GoNetspeed is investing more than $1.6 million to expand its 100% fiber-optic internet network in Manchester, Connecticut, a buildout the company said will extend multi-gigabit service access to more than 5,000 additional homes and businesses.
Construction is already underway, and GoNetspeed expects to begin connecting customers in the newly expanded service areas in the coming weeks. The latest build brings the company’s total investment commitment in Manchester to $8.2 million, part of a broader push to strengthen local digital infrastructure for remote work, education, and everyday connectivity needs.
Tom Perrone, GoNetspeed’s chief operations officer, said the expansion is aimed at meeting current and future bandwidth demand as households and businesses add more connected devices and require faster speeds. GoNetspeed said its fiber service offers symmetrical upload and download speeds, with plans ranging from 500 Mbps to 2 Gbps.
The Manchester project builds on GoNetspeed’s recent momentum in Connecticut, including a $7 million network buildout in Stratford, and adds to its broader footprint across 11 states. The provider said Manchester will join more than 40 other communities in the region that already have access to its fiber internet service, alongside additional areas under construction.
GoNetspeed said it formed a partnership with Oak Hill Capital in January 2021 to accelerate fiber expansion across the Northeast, and that it continues adding thousands of new service areas each year.
