Google: Acquisition Of Cloud Security Platform Wiz Completed

Google announced it has completed its acquisition of Wiz, a New York–based cloud and AI security platform, integrating the company into its Google Cloud division while keeping the Wiz brand and its multicloud approach intact. The move is aimed at strengthening security capabilities for organizations building and running applications across cloud environments and AI platforms.

The acquisition reflects Google Cloud’s effort to address rising cybersecurity risks as enterprises and governments increasingly migrate sensitive data and systems to the cloud. The growth of artificial intelligence and continuous software development has also created new opportunities for attackers using AI to operate more quickly and effectively.

Wiz offers a cloud security platform that connects code, cloud infrastructure, and runtime environments in a single context. The platform works across major cloud providers and helps organizations detect vulnerabilities, prevent breaches, and respond to cybersecurity incidents.

By combining Wiz with Google Cloud’s infrastructure and AI-driven security tools, the companies aim to create a unified platform capable of detecting and mitigating emerging threats, including attacks targeting AI models or generated by AI systems. The platform will also help security teams automate threat detection and response while maintaining consistent security policies across multicloud environments.

Google said the combined capabilities are intended to accelerate multicloud adoption and enable companies to operate securely across different cloud providers. The integration is also expected to improve cybersecurity operations for enterprises, government agencies, and smaller businesses that often lack the resources or expertise to defend against sophisticated cyber threats.

Wiz products will continue to operate across major cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Google Cloud also said it will maintain its open ecosystem approach, offering security solutions through partners and the Google Cloud Marketplace.

Wiz’s platform is used by many large global organizations, including Fortune 100 companies, and is designed to help security and engineering teams identify risks, fix vulnerabilities, and secure applications throughout their lifecycles.
