Paul Zimmerman announced that he has joined Google as Managing Director and Global Head of Private Equity. In the role, Zimmerman will lead Google’s global private equity initiatives focused on helping private equity firms and portfolio companies deploy AI technologies to drive operational value creation, growth, and innovation.
Zimmerman said the role will build on Google’s existing momentum within the private equity sector as firms increasingly adopt AI-driven infrastructure, enterprise software, data platforms, and automation technologies.
The appointment comes amid accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence across the private equity industry, where firms are increasingly using AI to improve operational efficiency, portfolio management, analytics, and competitive positioning.
Zimmerman highlighted Google’s combination of AI research, infrastructure, enterprise software, security capabilities, and cloud platforms as key differentiators supporting private equity clients and portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Google, Zimmerman held leadership roles across private equity and enterprise technology markets.
