Google is rolling out connected app integrations directly within AI Mode in Search, beginning this week in the United States. The feature allows users to securely link third-party services to their Google Search experience and take action within those apps without leaving the AI Mode interface.
The initial launch partners include Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music. A user planning a grocery run can ask AI Mode to help build a shopping list and then add items directly to an Instacart cart for checkout. For creative tasks, users can prompt Canva to surface design templates — such as a party flyer — within the Search session. Music-related queries can result in a curated playlist that is instantly saved to YouTube Music and ready to play.
The integrations build on Google’s existing connected apps functionality within the Gemini app, extending that capability into Search’s AI Mode. Google noted that when combined with Personal Intelligence — the feature that allows Search to draw on a user’s personal context — connected apps can generate more tailored responses by understanding both the user’s intent and their existing accounts and preferences across third-party services.
Google said it is working with a broader range of partners and plans to expand the list of connected apps beyond the initial launch set.
