Google Introduces New Gemini Features For Small Businesses

Google announced a series of new Gemini capabilities designed specifically for small businesses, including direct integration with Google Business Profile and the launch of Business notebooks.

The new features, unveiled at Google for Brazil, are intended to transform Gemini into an AI assistant that understands a company’s brand, customer interactions, and business context. The tools are rolling out globally this month.

Google said small business owners often juggle multiple responsibilities and need AI systems that can remember their goals and brand voice without requiring repeated instructions.

One of the key additions is a direct connection between Gemini and Google Business Profile. Through a one-tap setup, Gemini will gain access to information such as customer reviews, customer questions, search impressions, call activity, direction requests, and engagement metrics.

The integration enables business owners to ask Gemini questions about performance, generate responses to customer reviews, update business hours, publish seasonal announcements, and identify missing information on their profiles.

Google is also introducing Business notebooks, which serve as centralized workspaces that organize chats, websites, and Google Business Profile information. The notebooks allow Gemini to maintain context across conversations and provide recommendations based on a company’s specific operations and customer feedback.

According to Google, Business notebooks will proactively surface alerts and opportunities when users open them. These include unanswered customer questions, reminders to set holiday hours, suggestions for improving pricing and product positioning, and ideas for promotional campaigns.

The company said the updates are part of its broader effort to help small businesses leverage AI to improve productivity and grow their operations. Google also indicated that special Workspace and Gemini offers for businesses will be introduced in the future.

KEY QUOTES:

“Small businesses are the true engine of the global economy, yet entrepreneurs often find themselves stretched thin, playing the roles of CEO, CMO and customer service team all before lunch. AI holds incredible promise to act as an extension of your team, but to be truly helpful, it needs to remember your brand voice and context so you don’t have to re-explain your goals every time you log in.”
