Google announced a series of new Gemini capabilities designed specifically for small businesses, introducing Google Business Profile integration and Business notebooks to turn Gemini into a more personalized AI assistant for entrepreneurs.
The new features, unveiled during Google for Brazil, are rolling out globally this month and are intended to help business owners manage operations, customer interactions, and marketing more efficiently.
A key addition is the ability to connect Google Business Profile to Gemini with a single tap. Once connected, Gemini can access information such as customer reviews, customer questions, search performance metrics, call data, and engagement insights. This enables the AI assistant to analyze business performance, draft personalized responses to reviews, update operating hours, and identify profile improvements.
Google is also introducing Business notebooks, which provide a centralized workspace for organizing chats, sources, websites, and Google Business Profile information. The notebooks allow Gemini to retain business context and provide recommendations tailored to each company.
Business notebooks will proactively surface alerts and suggestions, including unanswered customer questions, missing holiday hours, and opportunities to improve pricing, positioning, and marketing efforts. The feature also supports brainstorming, performance analysis, and the creation of promotional content aligned with a company’s brand.
Google said the enhancements are aimed at helping entrepreneurs who often juggle multiple responsibilities by providing AI tools that understand their businesses without requiring repeated explanations of goals and context.
The company also indicated that special Workspace and Gemini offers for small businesses are expected to be announced in the future.
KEY QUOTES:
“Small businesses are the true engine of the global economy, yet entrepreneurs often find themselves stretched thin, playing the roles of CEO, CMO and customer service team all before lunch. AI holds incredible promise to act as an extension of your team, but to be truly helpful, it needs to remember your brand voice and context so you don’t have to re-explain your goals every time you log in.”
