Google has updated the Google Store website with information about its new flagship smartphone devices: Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. These devices will be available for purchase on October 4, 2023.

“Meet the new Pixel phones, featuring the most advanced Pixel cameras yet, and Google AI to help you do more, even faster,” says the landing page of Google Store about the new devices.

Google also posted a sneak peek video of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro design:

In terms of colors, you will notice Google revealed in the preview video that the Pixel 8 Pro will have a “porcelain” option  and the Pixel 8 has a pink option.

Regarding the features highlighted in the landing page, there is an emphasis on Google AI. Specifically, you can fix photos even ones taken with an old phone using advanced editing features such as Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur. And you can translate content on the spot using the Live Translate feature. Pixel is able to interpret face-to-face conversations in real-time, transcribe messages, and translate signs.

On the landing page website for the Pixel 8, there is also an option to sign up for updates about devices, news, tips, and offers from the Google Store. Google also revealed that the Pixel Watch 2 will be available for purchase on October 4.

Rumors

Both phones are rumored to have Google’s Tensor G3 chipsets. The Pro model will likely have 12GB of RAM.

It is also believed that the Night Sight feature will be integrated into video recording in the devices so that content filmed in the dark would be of higher quality. There is also a rumor that Google will add Audio Magic Eraser tools to video.

The Pixel 8 Pro will likely have a 2822×1344 resolution, and the Pixel 8 will likely have a 2268×1080 resolution. In terms of size, the Pixel 8 will likely be 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm and 12mm thickness. This is slightly smaller than the Pixel 7’s 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7mm size. The Pixel 8 display is believed to be 6.17-inch compared to the 6.3-inch display on the Pixel 7. The Pixel 8 display will likely be 120Hz, higher than the 90Hz display on the Pixel 7a.

The Pixel 8 devices are expected to have the ability to read your temperature with a thermometer feature. This would be the first time a thermometer feature would be added to a Pixel device. But it is likely only going to be built into the Pixel 8 Pro and not the Pixel 8.

Wi-Fi 7 support is also expected to be integrated into the devices, meaning it will support faster transfer speeds and support the three bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz).

Regarding storage, rumors suggest that the Pixel 8 will have 128GB or 256GB storage options while the Pixel 8 Pro will have the same, along with an extra 512GB storage option.

Regarding the cameras, it is believed that the Pixel 8 Pro will have a 50-megapixel main sensor, an ultra-wide 64-megapixel sensor, and a telephoto 58-megapixel sensor. And the Pixel 7 will likely have a 50-megapixel main sensor and the same ultra-wide. The ultra-wide camera would be a major upgrade from the predecessor devices – which was just 12-megapixel. The front-facing camera is expected to be the same 11-megapixel sensor that was used last year as well.

For security, the Pixel 8 devices might have an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor (under-display) – which would be faster than the predecessor devices.

Google scheduled a Pixel event on October 4 to officially launch the devices.
