Google announced the new Google Home Speaker, its first audio device built for the Gemini for Home voice assistant.

The device is available for pre-order for $99.99 and is expected to hit store shelves on June 25. Google said the speaker is designed to make smart home interactions more natural, conversational, and helpful.

The Google Home Speaker includes Gemini for Home, which features natural language understanding and reasoning. The assistant is designed to understand more flexible speech patterns, allowing users to make requests without memorizing rigid commands.

Users can give multiple commands at once, make corrections mid-sentence, and ask more complex questions. For example, Gemini can interpret requests such as turning off all lights except one lamp, dimming lights while playing music and setting a timer, or correcting a command in real time.

The speaker also supports two-way conversations with conversational context, allowing users to ask follow-up questions without repeating the original context. Continued Conversation keeps the microphone open briefly after a response so users can continue speaking without repeating “Ok Google.”

Google Home Premium subscribers can access additional AI features, including Gemini Live, Camera History Search, and Home Briefs. Gemini Live enables more natural conversations, while Camera History Search lets users ask about recent Nest camera activity. Home Briefs can summarize what happened around the house while a user was away.

The speaker is engineered with balanced 360-degree sound for music and podcasts. It also includes advanced microphone processing designed to help Gemini better understand users in different environments.

Google said the speaker can be paired with a Google TV Streamer. Users can pair up to two speakers with the streaming device to create a mini home theater setup with spatial surround sound.

The Google Home Speaker comes in Hazel and Porcelain, along with U.S.-exclusive colors Jade and Berry. The device is wrapped in a custom 3D-knit textile and includes a light ring underglow that indicates when the assistant is listening, thinking, or responding.

For privacy, the speaker includes a physical toggle switch that allows users to mute the microphone.

Google said the device can help users plan outings, manage kitchen tasks, add ingredients to shopping lists, find entertainment recommendations, control smart home devices, and complete everyday routines through more conversational interactions.
