Google announced a series of new AI-powered features and products for Google Workspace, introducing conversational voice capabilities across Gmail, Docs and Keep, a new image creation and editing app called Google Pics, expanded AI Inbox functionality and a 24/7 personal AI agent named Gemini Spark.

The company said more than 4 billion users rely on Google Workspace applications, including Gmail, Docs, and Drive, and these new capabilities are designed to help users create, collaborate, and manage tasks more efficiently.

One of the biggest additions is a new set of conversational voice tools across Gmail, Docs and Keep. In Gmail, a feature called Gmail Live enables users to search their inbox using voice commands. Users can ask questions such as flight gate information or school-related updates, and Gmail Live will search emails and provide synthesized answers.

Google is also launching Docs Live, a voice-powered feature designed to act as a co-writer and brainstorming assistant. Users can verbally outline ideas, and Docs Live will organize thoughts, structure documents and, with permission, pull information from Gmail, Drive, Chat and the web to help generate drafts and refine tone.

In Keep, users can verbally capture ideas and “brain dump” notes, with the app automatically transforming spoken thoughts into organized notes and lists.

Google said these conversational voice features will roll out this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, while also becoming available in preview for Google Workspace business customers.

The company also introduced Google Pics, a new image generation and editing platform powered by its Nano Banana model. Google described the tool as providing users with precise creative control over AI-generated visuals for professional and personal creative projects.

Google Pics includes several core features:

  1. Object segmentation, allowing users to isolate and edit specific image elements without impacting the rest of the image.
  2. Text editing and translation inside images while maintaining original fonts and design styles.
  3. Workspace integrations, initially launching with Slides and Drive.
  4. Shareable collaborative canvases that allow multiple users to edit images simultaneously.

Google said Google Pics is launching immediately to a limited group of Trusted Testers and will roll out globally this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, along with preview access for Google Workspace business customers.

The company also expanded AI Inbox in Gmail. Originally introduced earlier this year, AI Inbox is designed to prioritize important emails and time-sensitive tasks.

New AI Inbox updates include personalized draft replies that generate contextual email responses, instant access to relevant Google Docs, Sheets and Slides within email threads and streamlined task management controls that allow users to dismiss suggestions or mark related emails as read in a single click.

Google said AI Inbox is currently available for Google AI Ultra subscribers and in preview for Google Workspace Enterprise Plus customers. The company is now expanding the feature to Google AI Plus and Pro subscribers in the U.S.

Another major announcement was Gemini Spark, a new AI agent introduced at Google I/O 2026. Google described Gemini Spark as a 24/7 personal AI agent that can help users navigate their digital lives and take actions on their behalf within Workspace applications.

According to Google, Gemini Spark is designed to operate under user direction and will ask for confirmation before performing high-stakes actions such as sending emails or adding calendar events. The feature will soon become available in preview for business customers through the Gemini app.

Google said the new Workspace AI updates are intended to help users save time, improve productivity and streamline both personal and professional workflows.
