Katelyn Gallanty’s Background

Could you tell me more about your background? Gallanty said:
I like to say that my career to date has been a combination of hard work, tenacity, good luck & phone calls – they’ve tended to be a theme no matter what I’ve done. My career has been defined by two entrepreneurial moments that shaped my understanding of both sides of the capital equation. First, while working in sales and trading at Citi, I was selected to lead a product innovation initiative within Citi Ventures – taking a cross-border payments concept with embedded FX hedging from idea to live, globally commercialized product in 18 months with minimal budget and maximum creative problem-solving. Operating in a highly regulated environment under resource constraints taught me how to identify and mitigate risk, maintain client experience, and actually make something real – the founder’s dilemma in microcosm.
That experience led to my second entrepreneurial chapter: recruited to Wells Fargo to run commercialization for their entire FX payments unit, I scaled competitive product development across all their client segments. Within a year, I was asked to return to Citi to build something new again – a national private banking practice dedicated to founders and entrepreneurs across fintech, AI, and life sciences on the path to IPO. In a little over 2 years, I built that practice from zero to 175 clients and $3 billion in assets under management, becoming a nationally ranked private banker. In that seat, I sat at the intersection of founder ambition and investor conviction – understanding what founders needed to scale, what investors looked for when deploying capital, and how to close the gap between the two.
Formation Of The Company
How did the idea for the company come together? Gallanty shared:
I founded Grant Drive Group on a fundamental belief that innovation is the lifeblood of the American Dream, and what better way to foster that dream than to support founders in their pursuit of it? Grant Drive is named for my grandfather, who went from the mailroom to the boardroom without a college degree. That’s the founder grit my team and I look for, and it’s the spirit I bring to every founder we work with.
Raising capital isn’t a pitch problem; it’s a readiness problem. We don’t introduce a founder to a single investor until we’ve worked with them extensively. My approach is direct: face the hard questions early, so founders walk into every investor meeting knowing exactly who they are, where they’re going, and how they’ll get there.
On the other side of this, investors are drowning in cold outreach & decks, with no one vetting whether the founder was actually ready. I started GDG to sit in that gap to benefit both sides of the early-stage fundraising landscape.
Favorite Memory
What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Gallanty reflected:
I get to have this incredible “bookend” moment with founders, which initially starts when we first meet, before they are even a client. They tell me about their company, the journey to date, the struggles & triumphs and this incredible vision they have for where they can take this business with the right planning & capital. The middle part is getting down to the prep, the work, the nitty gritty and then when stars align, I get to bask in the proud end which is getting to call a client when the raise is all wrapped, capital in the bank and I get to congratulate them on getting to officially start pursuing the next level of the business they’ve already worked so hard to build. My team and I get to be part of that wonder & possibility while grounding it in reality and helping these businesses get to where they want to go. It’s what makes this job the best and keeps you going.
Core Products
What are the company’s core products and features? Gallanty explained
We’re a capital advisory firm, with a heavy emphasis on business development – so our “product” is a process, and we run it end to end before a founder ever meets an investor. It spans six areas: 360 business advisory, where we pressure-test positioning, go-to-market, and defensibility through an investor’s lens; investor deck and materials, so the narrative is locked and every slide earns its place; financial modeling and projections grounded in real unit economics rather than fantasy; valuation and cap-table advisory; capital raising and warm investor outreach, where we manage the full process; and exit and ready-for-sale planning for the long arc.
All of it serves one outcome: making sure a founder is genuinely ready when it matters. We work across fintech, health & fitness, AI, and emerging businesses that have high-potential founding teams.
Challenges Faced
Have you faced any challenges in your sector of work recently, and how did you overcome them? Gallanty acknowledged:
The fundraising environment over the past couple of years has been hard for early-stage founders – capital got more selective, diligence got deeper, and the bar for “fundable” moved up. A lot of placement agents responded by sending more decks to more investors. We did the opposite. We leaned harder into preparation because in a tighter market, the founders who win are the ones who can withstand real scrutiny.
Evolution Of The Company’s Technology
How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Gallanty noted:
We’ve gone from doing the analytical work manually to running an AI-native back office. The thesis is that a small, senior team can deliver the depth of a much larger firm if the operational layer is built right – so we use AI for the heavy lifting on company intelligence, competitive and market research, and matching founders to the right investors in our network.
The more efficiently we handle the analysis, the more time goes back into the part that closes rounds: knowing our investors, knowing our founders, and making introductions that are genuinely warm. We’ve also grown in the partnerships we’ve formed with key players in the ecosystem to be able to support our clients across all their needs, whether legal, accounting, PR, fractional support, cybersecurity, and more.
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Gallanty cited:
Raising over $25 million across more than 35 companies, entirely through warm relationships rather than cold outreach. Building an investor network of more than 1,500 – strategic angels, family offices, venture, private equity, and select hedge funds through trust & shooting straight with them. Also getting to develop partnerships with solid companies which share the same ethos & only help our clients get better and truly investor-ready.
Customer Success Stories
Can you share any specific customer success stories? Gallanty highlighted:
It would be from our first client, CULTR, who’s been with us the longest, and we waited for the right time to help them raise after a lot of planning & patience. We closed their raise in record time, under 2 months, with a single strategic investor. It was the clearest proof of the whole thesis: when a founder is genuinely ready, and you make the right introduction rather than the most introductions, the process doesn’t have to be a grind. That’s the kind of outcome I started the firm to create.
Funding/Revenue
Are you able to discuss funding and/or revenue metrics? Gallanty revealed:
I can share what we’ve raised on behalf of our clients: more than $25 million across 35-plus companies, with a network of over 1,500 investors & counting. We’re on pace to close another $20-30MM before the summer is out.
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates the company from its competition? Gallanty affirmed:
Most placement agents are in the introduction business – they have a Rolodex, and they make connections. We’re an advisory shop in the readiness business. We do weeks of work before an introduction ever happens, so that when we bring a founder to an investor, the founder can actually withstand the scrutiny, which changes the quality of the conversation and the likelihood of capital being committed increases. Also, we’re broker-dealer affiliated so everything we do is fully above board when we’re working with clients & investors.
Three things make it real. First, we source founders, not just companies – everyone is vetted and prepped before they reach an investor. Second, we’re a multi-vertical platform with genuine specialist depth, not generalists chasing any deal; our principals & partnerships in AI, technology, fintech, and health & fitness are expertise most boutiques can’t match. Third, we’re built AI-native, which lets a senior team go deep on every single founder. The result is a network that’s trusted, where both founders and investors refer us forward. If trust is a moat, that’s what we’re built on.
Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future goals? Gallanty emphasized:
The vision is to become the most trusted name in early-stage capital advisory and create the ecosystem around it to make it thrive – I set out to work the early-stage, seed-to-Series B space because not only is it underserved, but I believe it’s been done the wrong way and that I could build an advisory firm that would do it the right way. In the next year or so, we’ll look to expand our specialist verticals beyond where we focus today and continue to deepen our investor network so the right capital is always a warm introduction away. Maybe we form our own fund or expand into ready-for-sale consulting & mergers and acquisitions, but as startups do, we’ll continue to grow & pivot based on what the market is telling us it needs (and what we shine best at).
Additional Thoughts
Any other topics you would like to discuss? Gallanty concluded:
The one thing I’d want a reader to walk away with is our philosophy: feet on the ground, eyes on the stars. We believe crazy is possible – it’s just a matter of planning and execution. That’s true for a founder building a company and for an investor deploying capital. We don’t oversell stories; we make sure the story is actually ready to tell. We don’t hide the hard parts; we help founders face them. That’s what it means to be shiny on the inside and the outside – and it’s the standard we hold ourselves to on every single deal.
