Gravity 360 has acquired Med-Lake Laboratory, expanding the parent company of Gravity Diagnostics into Georgia and Alabama as it builds a larger diagnostics platform across the southern U.S. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Med-Lake is a full-service clinical laboratory headquartered in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Founded in 2018, the CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited high-complexity laboratory serves physician practices, skilled nursing facilities, behavioral health providers, judicial programs and urgent care clinics across Georgia, Alabama and neighboring states.
Its testing portfolio includes clinical toxicology, blood and clinical chemistry, PCR-based infectious disease testing and reference laboratory services.
Med-Lake also operates an in-office phlebotomy and courier network.
The laboratory will continue operating from Milledgeville under its existing team while gaining access to Gravity’s purchasing scale, compliance programs and revenue-cycle infrastructure.
Gravity Diagnostics, the platform’s flagship company, is licensed to provide laboratory services in all 50 states. The combined organization now operates laboratories in Kentucky and Georgia.
Gravity 360 plans to invest in Med-Lake’s existing operations and expand the menu of tests available to customers.
The company also sees the acquisition as the foundation for additional expansion across the Southeast.
Med-Lake brings established relationships with primary care providers, long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, behavioral health providers and judicial and community-supervision programs in Georgia and Alabama.
The acquisition follows other recent investments in Gravity’s commercial leadership and forms part of a broader strategy to grow through partnerships and acquisitions.
Gravity’s existing diagnostics offering includes clinical toxicology, pharmacogenomics and infectious disease testing.
Management indicated that the Med-Lake deal will not be its final expansion move in the region.
