Greycourt has appointed Michael J. Meehan as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer while promoting Mark Thomas to Chief Investment Strategist, expanding the investment advisory firm’s senior leadership as it continues serving ultra-high-net-worth families and family offices.
In his new role, Meehan will help lead Greycourt’s investment strategy and serve as a public-facing voice on markets, portfolio construction and broader investment themes.
He will work closely with the firm’s Manager Research team and Thomas to identify investment ideas and translate those views into portfolio implementation strategies for clients.
Meehan will also work directly with families and family offices on portfolio design, asset allocation and customized investment challenges.
That work is expected to include questions around public and private market exposure, diversification, liquidity, tax considerations and the long-term structure of multi-asset portfolios.
Meehan joins Greycourt from Nuveen, where he served as Senior Portfolio Strategist.
At Nuveen, he helped develop after-tax asset allocation systems designed for high-net-worth investors, giving him experience with portfolio construction approaches that account for the tax implications of investment decisions rather than focusing only on pre-tax returns.
He also co-founded Nuveen’s Private Market Institute, which focuses on education and consulting across private equity, private credit and real estate.
That background adds private markets expertise to Greycourt’s investment leadership as wealthy families increasingly allocate capital across both traditional and alternative asset classes.
Before Nuveen, Meehan served as a Portfolio Strategist at BlackRock, where he worked with family offices and registered investment advisers.
Earlier in his career, he worked on investment strategy at Hirtle, Callaghan & Co.
Thomas, meanwhile, will focus on long-term asset class return forecasts, portfolio risk and return modeling and translating Greycourt’s manager research into actionable investment strategies for ultra-high-net-worth clients.
His responsibilities will include developing capital market assumptions and helping evaluate how different asset classes and managers fit within customized portfolios.
The combination of Meehan’s appointment and Thomas’ promotion gives Greycourt additional senior capacity across strategic asset allocation, manager research, portfolio modeling and client advisory work.
The leadership changes also reflect the growing complexity of portfolio construction for wealthy families, which increasingly requires coordination across public markets, private investments, liquidity needs and tax-sensitive implementation.
By strengthening both its Chief Investment Officer and Chief Investment Strategist functions, Greycourt is positioning its investment team to provide more integrated advice across those areas.
