GrubMarket has acquired Procurant, a California-based software-as-a-service platform for fresh food procurement and compliance, in a move that significantly expands its enterprise technology footprint across the American food supply chain. The deal strengthens GrubMarket’s growing suite of AI-powered software offerings and deepens its presence among major retailers, growers, shippers, and distributors that manage perishable goods at scale.
Procurant, founded in 2018 by CEO Eric Peters, was built as a cloud native alternative to legacy procurement systems used across the fresh food sector. The company offers real-time collaboration tools, modern order management capabilities, FSMA 204 traceability compliance solutions, quality control features, and food safety systems that process over one million temperature checks daily. Its platform facilitates end-to-end visibility and operational efficiency across the perishable goods ecosystem.
The company currently connects more than 850 customers across 14 countries, enabling $5.5 billion in annual gross merchandise volume. Its network spans large national retailers, including Costco, Walmart, Target, and Albertsons Companies, along with numerous growers and distributors across the United States and abroad. Its leadership team will remain in place following the acquisition.
The purchase enables GrubMarket to enhance its expanding suite of AI-powered enterprise tools for the food industry. Procurant’s procurement and trading solutions will integrate with platforms such as WholesaleWare, GrubMarket’s AI-driven ERP for wholesalers and distributors; GrubAssist AI, its suite of agentic AI systems for automated analysis and order management; Orders IO, its ecommerce ordering solution; and GrubPay, its specialized digital payments tool for the food supply chain.
The acquisition also offers GrubMarket’s existing customers access to Procurant’s advanced trading network and procurement infrastructure. GrubMarket’s subsidiary companies will be able to adopt Procurant’s platform to improve procurement efficiency, strengthen supplier collaboration, and leverage new digital trading capabilities.
The company currently operates across all 50 U.S. states and maintains an international presence throughout North and South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
