GSK Awards $2 Million In COiMMUNITY Grants To Help Close Vaccination Gaps And Pledges $3 Million for 2026

GSK announced it has awarded $2 million in grants to 16 state, regional, and national nonprofit organizations through its COiMMUNITY Initiative, as the biopharma company seeks to support local efforts to improve vaccine education, communication, and immunization uptake across the United States.

The company said the 2025 grants will back programs focused on reducing barriers to immunization by supporting healthcare teams, strengthening infrastructure, and engaging communities. GSK added that the initiative, now in its third year, will expand its 2026 grant pool to $3 million for projects designed to improve vaccine communication and delivery for people of all ages, with a particular emphasis on increasing adult immunization rates.

Among the 2025 grant recipients, The J.A.M.I.E. (Joint Advocacy of Meningococcal Information & Education) Group said it plans to use the funding to expand advocacy and education around meningococcal disease, also known as meningitis. The organization plans to work with city and state officials in New York to raise awareness of meningitis prevention, GSK said. The company noted that college-age young adults are among the higher-risk groups for meningococcal disease.

Another recipient, Immunize Colorado, said it is using behavioral science to train healthcare providers, health educators, front desk staff, and public health professionals to discuss vaccines more effectively in everyday interactions. The organization said its program centers on short, skills-based sessions intended to help care teams approach vaccine conversations with confidence, empathy, and a listening-first framework.

GSK said other 2025 awardees include the American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Pharmacists Association, Arkansas Immunization Action Coalition, Association of Immunization Managers, Health Betterment Initiative, Indiana Immunization Coalition, National Council on Aging, Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, Sepsis Alliance, The Arizona Partnership for Immunization, UNITY Consortium, and Voices for Vaccines.

For the 2026 cycle, GSK said eligible organizations can submit proposals on a rolling basis through mid-November 2026, with grants intended to support “ambitious and actionable” efforts to increase adult immunization through education, outreach, and access.

Launched in 2023, the COiMMUNITY Initiative is built around grant funding and increased data transparency through Vaccine Track, which GSK described as an interactive tool providing real-time adult immunization data to help inform decisions and strengthen public health strategies. GSK said it has awarded $5 million to date through the program to nonprofits and community groups working to expand vaccine awareness and access nationwide.

KEY QUOTES:

“Each of these organizations is addressing barriers to immunization from a different angle—supporting healthcare teams, improving infrastructure and engaging communities. What connects them is their shared goal of keeping prevention at the forefront of the conversation and turning purpose into action.”

Leonard Friedland, Vice President, Scientific Affairs and Public Health, Vaccines, GSK

“Meningitis can change lives in a matter of hours and in ways most people can’t imagine. Yet, it’s vaccine preventable. With this funding support, we’re planning to work with city and state officials in New York to raise awareness of meningitis prevention.”

Jamie and Patsy Schanbaum, Cofounders, The J.A.M.I.E. Group

“We’re meeting healthcare teams where they are: busy, stretched and trying to do the right thing for their patients. Our grant-funded program focuses on short, skills-based sessions to help providers guide conversations about vaccines with confidence and empathy, giving them a framework for listening first, responding to concerns and helping their patients make informed choices about vaccination.”
