Guestlist is a wedding-planning app designed to streamline guest communication and coordination for a more seamless event experience. Think of it as a private social network for your wedding, and you can say goodbye to lost paper invites and forgotten wedding websites. With Guestlist, keeping your guests informed and engaged has never been easier. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Guestlist CEO Michelle Nemirovsky to gain a deeper understanding of the company.
Michelle Nemirovsky’s Background
What is Michelle Nemirovsky’s background? Nemirovsky said:
“I started in marketing, studying at Loyola Marymount before interning for an Israeli fashion house called Maskit. That experience sparked my love for combining business goals with aesthetics and storytelling. From there, I held marketing roles at GoPro and a few early-stage startups, and eventually launched a social app for mothers and daughters. That side-project led me to teach myself UX and product design, which opened the door to a creative director role at a healthcare-tech company—and ultimately to launching my own web-design studio. I still run that studio in Austin, but my main focus now is Guestlist, the wedding app my engineer-husband and I built to fix the chaos we faced planning our own destination wedding. Across everything I’ve done, the throughline is simplifying complexity through thoughtful, beautiful design—and Guestlist is the most personal expression of that yet.”
Formation Of The Company
How did the idea for the company come together? Nemirovsky shared:
“The idea came from the same pain points hitting us from all directions.”
“First, we were guests at a destination wedding when a rainstorm delayed the ceremony by an hour—and the couple had to text everyone individually. Even coordinating a simple golf game meant bothering the already overwhelmed bride and groom.”
“Then, while planning our own 200-person wedding in Argentina, we built a gorgeous website with every detail—but our phones still blew up with the same questions: shuttle times, dress code, local recommendations. The site couldn’t handle real-time updates, and our planner was stuck chasing RSVPs and meal choices via one-off texts.”
“I’m a designer, and my husband is an engineer, so halfway through planning, we decided to build what we couldn’t find—a single app where guests could get real-time updates, ask questions, RSVP, upload photos, and connect with each other. It worked better than we imagined: our guests planned dinners together, found lost items, and shared hundreds of photos. Watching our “beta test” turn our wedding into a connected community made us realize other couples needed this too—and Guestlist was born.”
Favorite Memory
What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Nemirovsky reflected:
“Building this dream with my husband has been incredibly special—and seeing it take off beyond our own wedding is surreal. We created Guestlist for ourselves, so watching it spread organically to weddings in nearly 100 countries has been unbelievably rewarding.”
Core Products
What are the company’s core products and features? Nemirovsky explained:
“Guestlist offers five core features out of the box:
- Details Page – One central hub for timeline, locations, dress code, and FAQs.
- RSVP Tool – Guests RSVP in-app; headcounts update in real time.
- Shared Feed – A private, social-style feed for announcements, questions, tips, and hype.
- Photo Album – Everyone uploads photos to one shared album—no QR codes or Google Drive links.
- Private Messaging – Guests can connect without needing each other’s contact info.
Premium unlocks:
- Text Blasts – Send real-time SMS updates to the entire guest list, making sure no one misses out on any pertinent last minute information — even if they haven’t downloaded the app.
- Additional Admins – Parents, planners, or super-organized bridesmaids can co-manage.
- Unlimited Photo & Video Uploads – No limits on sharing those memories.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Nemirovsky cited:
“We’ve grown to 7,300 users with 1,700 monthly active users—up 15% recently—and more than 4,000 guests have RSVP’d through the app. We’ve also been featured in Brides magazine as the “Best Wedding App,” which was an exciting moment for us.”
Customer Success Stories
When asking Nemirovsky about customer success stories, she highlighted:
“We’ve seen wedding feeds evolve into living communities. One bride shared a mood board with outfit ideas and color swatches so guests knew exactly what to wear. Guests post questions—like where to grab coffee near the hotel—and others jump in with helpful recommendations before the couple even sees it. Lost items like sunglasses or jackets are reunited with their owners within minutes, thanks to quick photo shares. When schedules shift, couples send instant push notifications and guests confirm they’ve seen them. These small interactions create a stress-free, connected experience—exactly what we set out to build.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates the company from its competition? Nemirovsky affirmed:
“Most wedding tools are desktop-first and designed for vendors or couples managing logistics. Guestlist flips that. We’re mobile-first and guest-centric, built for Gen Z and millennials who expect seamless, real-time experiences. Our shared feed, live updates, and in-app community set us apart. We’re not just organizing a wedding—we’re making the weekend feel like a connected event for everyone there.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future goals?
“We’re rolling out a fully customizable RSVP tool that lets hosts ask custom questions, collect meal preferences, and export responses for their planner. Our roadmap is entirely driven by what couples and guests tell us they need.”
Additional Thoughts
Any other topics you would like to discuss? Nemirovsky concluded:
“The wedding space is evolving quickly. Gen Z couples care about sustainability, connection, and tech that feels effortless. We’re exploring ways to integrate AI that handles repetitive coordination so people can stay present for the moments that matter—while continuing to reduce paper waste and elevate the entire guest experience in unprecedented ways.”
