Guggenheim Securities has hired Dan Daul as a Senior Managing Director in its Technology Investment Banking practice, strengthening the firm’s coverage of application software and financial technology companies.
Daul is based in Guggenheim’s Chicago office and will focus on advising technology companies across strategic and financial transactions, with particular emphasis on the application software and fintech sectors.
The appointment adds a senior banker with approximately 30 years of technology investment banking experience to Guggenheim’s broader advisory and capital markets platform.
Daul joins Guggenheim from William Blair, where he most recently served as Partner and Vice Chairman of the firm’s Technology Investment Banking group.
During his tenure at William Blair, he advised software, fintech and other technology companies on a variety of strategic transactions and capital markets matters, helping build relationships across a sector that has become increasingly active in mergers and acquisitions, private capital raising and public market transactions.
Before joining William Blair, Daul began his investment banking career at Robert W. Baird & Co., giving him experience spanning multiple market cycles and several generations of technology development.
His background is expected to complement Guggenheim Securities’ existing technology investment banking capabilities as the firm continues expanding its relationships with companies operating across software and financial technology.
Application software remains a significant focus for investment banks because of the sector’s recurring revenue models, consolidation activity and continued demand from private equity and strategic acquirers.
Fintech companies are also navigating an increasingly complex environment involving growth capital, profitability expectations, regulatory considerations, strategic partnerships and consolidation.
Daul’s addition gives Guggenheim another senior banker who can advise companies on those issues while drawing on the firm’s broader capabilities in advisory, financing, sales and trading and research.
Guggenheim Securities operates as an independent investment banking and capital markets firm and provides services across four primary categories: Advisory, Financing, Sales and Trading, and Research.
The firm is headquartered in New York and maintains offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, London, Menlo Park and San Francisco, giving Daul access to a broader national and international platform as he builds relationships with software and fintech clients.
His appointment also follows other recent investments by Guggenheim in expanding sector-specific investment banking coverage, reflecting the firm’s strategy of adding experienced senior bankers with established industry relationships.
Daul earned a BBA in real estate and urban land economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA in finance from Northwestern University.
Guggenheim said his experience advising leading software and fintech businesses should strengthen its technology franchise and expand the firm’s capacity to serve companies across strategic transactions, capital raising and other financial decisions.
