Helcim Raises C$53 Million Series C At C$250 Million Valuation As ARR Tops C$150 Million

Helcim has raised C$53 million in Series C financing at a C$250 million valuation as the payments company expands its platform for small and mid-sized businesses across North America. BDC Capital’s Growth Venture Fund led the round. New investors Curql and Gold House Ventures participated alongside existing investors Headline, Aquiline, Information Venture Partners, Vesey Ventures, Clocktower Ventures and Alberta Accelerate Fund. Curql is backed by more than 160 North American credit unions.

The financing brings Helcim’s total equity funding since its 2022 Series A to C$100 million.

Its valuation increased from C$97 million in its 2024 Series B to C$250 million in the latest round.

Helcim has also crossed C$150 million in annual recurring revenue, expanded its workforce to approximately 200 people and grown its merchant base to more than 22,000 active businesses across Canada and the U.S.

The company is on pace to process nearly C$10 billion in annual payment volume.

Calgary-based Helcim built its payments infrastructure internally rather than reselling another processor’s platform.

Its offering includes point-of-sale technology, invoicing, online checkout, smart terminals and embedded payments capabilities.

The company’s model includes volume-based interchange-plus pricing and is primarily aimed at small and mid-sized businesses seeking an alternative to flat-rate payment processing.

Helcim is also expanding through artificial intelligence.

In January 2026, the company introduced an AI-powered Payment Extension that allows merchants to integrate Helcim payment processing into software they already use.

The product is intended to let merchants select their preferred processor rather than being locked into a single embedded-payments provider. Helcim said adoption has scaled quickly since launch.

The company plans to use the Series C proceeds to continue developing its payments platform, add financial services and move further into the mid-market.

Helcim is also pursuing relationships with regional banks and credit unions seeking modern payment infrastructure for small business customers.

That strategy comes as several large banks have sold or outsourced merchant services operations, creating an opportunity for independent payment providers.
