HelloBoss, the AI-powered recruitment platform developed by Tokyo-based startup NGA, announced a Series A round backed by international media group Bertelsmann, marking the conglomerate’s first strategic investment in Japan. BAI Capital also joined the funding round, adding to the company’s growing global investor base. The financing positions HelloBoss to scale its next-generation AI Agent technology and advance its long-term goal of building a unified global hiring infrastructure.

HelloBoss has quickly become one of Asia’s largest AI-driven job platforms since launching in early 2023. The company recorded a tenfold increase in revenue over two years with a team of just 20 employees. Global brands, including Marriott, Dior, and Suntory, now rely on the platform for talent acquisition. The new funding builds on the momentum from its earlier Pre-A round, which included participation from Yunqi Partners and other international investors.

The company is using Japan as its strategic launchpad. The country is considered one of the most challenging HR technology markets, and HelloBoss’s traction there has reinforced investor confidence. The company has also forged partnerships with globally recognized HR tech players, including a strategic alliance with Deel, which is already supporting features such as cross-border hiring.

With the fresh capital, HelloBoss plans to accelerate product development, strengthen its core team, and expand internationally. The company also aims to scale adoption of its new AI Agent, a patent-backed solution designed to automate and simplify job matching, communication, and application workflows for both job seekers and employers.

The AI Agent integrates multiple proprietary features, including instant job matches, resume generation, personalized introductions, optimized job postings, communication automation, and AI-supported multi-channel outreach. The system is optimized for both web and mobile users and supports multilingual, cross-border discovery, enabling global talent to explore employment opportunities in Japan and other markets.

Since its inception, HelloBoss has focused on redefining the hiring experience by blending generative AI, automation, and its proprietary database of 5.5 million companies. The platform also offers a suite of free generative AI tools, including resume and photo creators, career mentors, and automated posting assistants. Through its partnership with Deel, the company also operates Global Remote Hire, a service enabling companies to contract overseas AI talent for flexible three-month engagements.

HelloBoss founder and CEO Alex Wang brings deep experience from his five-year tenure at Japan’s Recruit Group, which acquired Indeed in 2012. His career also includes building multiple ventures in Japan and China before launching HelloBoss.

The company believes its patented technology, reinforced by global investors and enterprise partners, will position it as a transformative force in the worldwide hiring landscape as remote work and generative AI continue reshaping how employers and job seekers connect across borders.
