Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer announced that Laurent Massinon has joined the firm as a partner in its Finance practice, based in Luxembourg, as the global law firm continues to expand its European platform.
Massinon brings more than 20 years of experience advising on complex cross-border banking and capital markets transactions, including private capital and investment structure financings, acquisition finance, leveraged finance, structured finance and securitisation, debt and equity securities, as well as restructuring and insolvency. He also advises on regulatory matters across the banking, finance, capital markets and reinsurance sectors.
He joins from DLA Piper in Luxembourg, where he had been a partner since 2017. His arrival comes one year after the firm launched its Luxembourg office alongside the hire of three partners in the funds, M&A and tax teams within its Corporate practice. The firm said expanding the team in Luxembourg reinforces its commitment to strengthening capability and quality in key markets and enhancing support for clients on domestic and cross-border matters.
The hire marks continued growth across the firm’s EMEA platform. In recent months, Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer added leveraged finance partner Stuart Brinkworth in London and disputes partner Hannah Eckhoff in Frankfurt. In November 2025, Emanuela Da Rin joined as a partner to lead the firm’s Banking and Finance practice in Milan, while partners Laurence Bary in Paris and Mohammed Al Eshaikh in Riyadh also joined the firm.
