Nourish Care has secured a strategic growth investment from Hg to accelerate product development and expand its software platform for the U.K. social and community care sector.
Founder Nuno Almeida will continue to lead Nourish as CEO and remain a significant shareholder following the investment.
Livingbridge, which has backed Nourish since 2022, will also retain a minority stake.
Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Bournemouth, U.K., Nourish develops software designed to help care teams plan, record and coordinate care while keeping the person receiving support at the center of the process.
The company’s product suite is used by care providers across residential and home care environments.
Nourish has built its platform around reducing administrative work for care teams while helping providers improve care quality, operational performance and their ability to use data across their organizations.
Hg’s investment will support further development of Nourish’s existing products and the creation of new capabilities intended to improve customer experience and reduce administrative burdens on carers.
Artificial intelligence is expected to become an increasingly important part of that product strategy.
Nourish plans to use AI to automate administrative tasks and surface relevant information to care workers at appropriate moments while preserving the human interactions that remain central to care delivery.
The company will also gain access to Hg Catalyst, Hg’s AI product team, which Nourish expects to support development of additional AI-enabled products.
For existing customers, Nourish said the investment will not change current contracts or day-to-day service.
The company’s existing team will continue supporting customers, while its approach to handling customer data and security will remain unchanged.
Hg is an investor focused on European and transatlantic technology and services businesses, particularly companies providing critical software applications and workflow services.
The investment reflects Hg’s broader thesis around using AI and intelligent automation to improve software-driven workflows across specialized industries.
Livingbridge will continue its involvement with Nourish after supporting the company over the past four years.
Nourish said combining Hg’s software and AI expertise with Livingbridge’s continued backing will give the company additional resources to move faster on product development and customer experience improvements.
Arma Partners and Shoosmiths advised Nourish on the transaction.
Houlihan Lokey and Skadden advised Hg.
The deal is expected to close by the end of August.
KEY QUOTES:
“I started Nourish after spending time with care teams, where I saw how much of a carer’s day went on admin rather than the people in their care. Everything we’ve built since then is centred on a belief that if you make care teams’ lives easier, you also improve the care that reaches each person they support. AI is a big part of where we take that next. Used well, it can be an ally to carers, taking on the admin and surfacing the right information at the right moment, while staying out of the way of the human relationships that good care depends on.”
“What changes is our ability to move faster in improving the customer experience. Hg’s AI product team, Hg Catalyst, will give us a real advantage when building new AI products. We are also delighted to continue our partnership with Livingbridge, who have supported our mission over the past four years.”
Nuno Almeida, Founder And CEO Of Nourish Care
“Social and community care is some of the most important work in our society, and carers deserve the very best technology to support them in this work. We are delighted to be backing Nuno and the team at Nourish to continue delivering on that. Nourish has a modern product that care providers love, developed in close partnership with the people who use it. Better software allows care workers to spend more time on care and less on admin, helping to deliver better outcomes for the people they support.”
David Issott, Partner At Hg
“It has been a privilege to support Nuno and the Nourish team over the past four years to improve countless lives. Nourish has become a wonderful example of the impact you can deliver when a culture of care and a bold mission are paired with the very best of today’s technology. We’re excited to continue our journey with the Nourish team alongside Hg, who share our belief in Nourish’s potential to transform care.”
