Universal Pictures has released the trailer for ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.’ The action-packed Fast & Furious movie franchise has generated nearly $5 billion worldwide. In the ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ movie, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are reprising their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.
Hobbs, an agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and former British military elite operative Shaw first entered the Fast & Furious franchise in 2015 in Furious 7. The chemistry between the two characters in the Fast & Furious movies as they beat each other up and talked smack along the way will really be magnified in the spinoff.
In ‘Hobbs & Shaw,’ the two main characters are forced to team up in order to defeat Brixton (played by Idris Elba). Brixton became cyber-genetically enhanced and gained control of a bio-threat that could alter humanity forever. Deckard’s sister and MI6 field agent Hattie Shaw (played by Vanessa Kirby), Deckard’s mother Magdalene Shaw (played by Helen Mirren), and Luke’s brother Duke (played by Roman Reigns) are also joining in on the action. The setting in the movie range from Los Angeles to London to Samoa.
‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’ — which is being released on August 2 — is directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2). And the script was written by Chris Morgan — who was the writer for Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), The Fast of the Furious (2017), and the upcoming Fast & Furious 9 (slated for 2020). And the film is produced by Morgan, Johnson, Statham and Hiram Garcia. Dany Garcia, Kelly McCormick, Steven Chasman, Ethan Smith and Ainsley Davies are the executive producers for the movie.
