Home Bancorp has announced a leadership transition in which John W. Bordelon will retire as Chief Executive Officer of the company and Home Bank on January 8, 2027, after more than 45 years of service. Darren E. Guidry will succeed him as CEO and will continue serving as President of both Home Bancorp and Home Bank.
Bordelon will remain Chairman and a member of both the company’s and the bank’s boards of directors after retiring as CEO. Home Bancorp said the arrangement is intended to provide continuity during the transition and preserve access to Bordelon’s institutional knowledge as the organization enters its next stage of growth.
Guidry has served as President of Home Bancorp and Home Bank since July 1, 2026. He joined the organization in 1993 and has led growth, risk management, and strategic priorities. The company said his long tenure and knowledge of the bank’s markets position him to carry forward its community-oriented operating model.
Home Bancorp became the holding company for Home Bank in 2008 following the bank’s mutual-to-stock conversion. Home Bank traces its roots to 1908, when it was founded as Home Building & Loan, and is headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana. The bank has expanded beyond South Louisiana into Natchez, Mississippi, and the Greater Houston area.
The transition gives Home Bancorp several months to prepare for the CEO handoff while keeping both incoming and outgoing leaders closely involved. Guidry will take over day-to-day executive leadership in January, while Bordelon will continue contributing through the board.
