Hopeworks, a social enterprise advancing economic mobility through technology training and workforce development, has announced its expansion into Newark, New Jersey, marking a significant step in extending its proven model to one of the country’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving cities.

The expansion is supported in part by a $650,000 strategic investment from The Hg Foundation. Hopeworks is now actively operating in Newark, working with local partners, employers, and community organizations to connect young adults with career pathways in technology and other high-growth fields. A permanent facility is currently in development and expected to open at 550 Broad Street in Newark in September 2026.

Hopeworks has demonstrated exceptional outcomes in its existing markets, with over 90% of young adults earning high-wage jobs at the end of their work experience and a 12-month job retention rate of over 92%. The organization currently generates more than 250 jobs a year across Camden and Philadelphia through its real businesses, which provide technology solutions in Geographic Information Systems, Revenue Cycle Management, and web design. Young adults completing the program earn over $43,000 annually.

Newark’s thriving innovation ecosystem and institutional commitment to workforce development made it a compelling destination for Hopeworks’ expansion, particularly as AI, cybersecurity, and other emerging software technologies continue reshaping the workforce landscape and creating new talent needs across the region.
