Hopper OS: Acquisition Of Efferent Expands Intelligent Healthcare Operating System

By Amit Chowdhry • Mar 30, 2026

Hopper OS announced it has acquired Efferent, a healthcare informatics company specializing in cloud-based PACS, interoperability, and enterprise imaging, as part of its strategy to unify healthcare technology and IT services into a single intelligent operating system. The deal strengthens Hopper OS’ capabilities across imaging, data integration, and real-time clinical collaboration, further advancing its goal of delivering coordinated, outcomes-driven care across the healthcare ecosystem.

The acquisition enables Hopper OS to integrate Efferent’s technologies into its platform, adding advanced imaging capabilities alongside electronic medical records, cloud infrastructure, patient management tools, agentic AI, analytics, and IT services. The combined offering is designed to help physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, health systems, and device manufacturers access complete data streams and operate more efficiently.

Efferent brings its SmartLink™ interoperability engine and eVue enterprise imaging platform, which allow healthcare systems to connect disparate data sources and securely access diagnostic imaging from anywhere. These capabilities are expected to reduce fragmentation, improve interoperability, and enhance clinical decision-making by ensuring care teams work from a unified, real-time view of patient data.

The transaction builds on Hopper OS’ broader expansion strategy, including its prior acquisition of Caro Health, which added conversational AI and patient engagement automation to the platform. Together, these additions strengthen Hopper OS’ ability to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and support more connected, data-driven healthcare delivery.

With the integration of Efferent, Hopper OS aims to accelerate interoperability, improve onboarding efficiency, enhance analytics, and support advanced use cases such as surgical planning. The company continues to position itself as a single, end-to-end technology provider for healthcare organizations seeking to modernize legacy systems and improve performance across clinical, operational, and financial domains.
