Horizon Petroleum Appoints John D. Wright To Board Of Directors

Horizon Petroleum announced that John D. Wright has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors.

The company also announced that Tan Shern Liang has stepped down from the Board for personal reasons, effective immediately. Horizon said Liang has been appointed as a Special Advisor to the Board.

Wright brings more than 40 years of oil and gas and industry experience. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Alvopetro Energy, Chairman of the Board of Grounded Lithium, and President of Analogy Capital Advisors.

He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Touchstone Exploration from 2012 to 2025. Wright also previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer and Director of Petrobank Energy and Resources, beginning in 2000.

Wright was also President and Chief Executive Officer of Petrominerales from its inception to May 2010 and later served as Chairman of the Board until the company was acquired in 2013.

His previous leadership roles also include Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Ridgeback Resources in 2017, as well as Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Lightstream Resources from 2011 to 2016. Earlier in his career, Wright served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Pacalta Resources from 1996 to 1999.

Wright began his career in 1981 after graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. He is a Professional Engineer and Chartered Financial Analyst.

Horizon said Wright’s appointment will support the company’s European gas acquisition strategy and natural gas development plans in Poland. The company is focused on appraising and developing natural gas reserves and clean energy sources to increase energy independence and security in Europe.
