HSBC announced it is launching a Global AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore in the second half of 2026, aimed at developing artificial intelligence capabilities that can be scaled across the bank’s global network. The center will initially focus on enhancing customer wealth journey conversations, introducing agentic treasury solutions, and developing AI-enabled digital payments.

As part of the plan, HSBC will create roles for more than 100 artificial intelligence specialists, who will work alongside David Rice, the bank’s Chief AI Officer, and teams responsible for areas such as wealth management and global payments solutions.

The center aims to build a talent pipeline across natural language processing, data science, AI governance, and human-centered design, and HSBC said it will work with leading educational institutions and government bodies in Singapore to support that effort. The bank said the center is intended to build AI capabilities that can scale globally to improve customer experiences while maintaining strong governance and human oversight.
