District Ventures Capital has made its most significant investment to date by leading a $20 million financing round in Vancouver-based women’s intimate apparel brand Huha Wear Inc. The deal is also the most essential investment in the 20-year history of the television series Dragons’ Den, following the original pitch made by Huha’s founder, Alexa Suter, on Season 18.
The round included Export Development Canada as a co-investor. Huha, founded in 2019, has gained significant traction for its Mineral Undies line that uses breathable, tree-derived fibers and antimicrobial zinc oxide liners. With this new capital, the company plans to invest in product innovation, expand its category leadership, and enter additional markets.
District Ventures Capital, a fund focused on innovative consumer packaged goods companies, said the investment aligns with its strategy of backing Canadian brands with intense visions and scalable business models. The firm emphasized Huha’s momentum in redefining comfort, health, and performance in the underwear category.
The company noted that the funding marks a pivotal milestone for Huha, accelerating its mission to offer products that prioritize women’s wellness. The announcement also highlights the growing demand for skin-friendly, next-generation intimate apparel made from innovative fibers.
