HUMAIN, a Public Investment Fund-backed artificial intelligence company, has launched a new sports technology vertical called HUMAIN Sport following its acquisition of a controlling interest in ai.io, a London-headquartered AI and sports technology company.

The companies said the move is intended to accelerate the development and deployment of AI-driven sports technology solutions in Saudi Arabia and international markets, combining HUMAIN’s full-stack AI capabilities with ai.io’s sports-focused platforms and existing relationships across global sport.

HUMAIN Sport is expected to deliver integrated AI platforms designed to support a broad range of use cases across the sports ecosystem, including expanding participation, enabling data-driven athlete development, improving performance analysis, advancing intelligent facilities, and supporting digital and fan engagement. The companies also positioned the combined offering as relevant beyond sport, citing adjacent areas such as education, health, and training.

As part of the transaction, HUMAIN said it will leverage ai.io’s products, technical expertise, and global sports relationships to support international expansion and new use cases, while ai.io is expected to draw on HUMAIN’s AI infrastructure, platforms, partnerships, and commercial scale to support deployments across multiple geographies and sports disciplines.
