Human Friendly Robotics Signs Up To $4 Million Tiling Contract With Flooring Concepts Of NJ

Human Friendly Robotics has signed a three-year robotic tiling contract worth up to $4 million with commercial subcontractor Flooring Concepts of NJ.

Under the agreement, Human Friendly Robotics will deploy its Tyler autonomous tiling robots alongside Flooring Concepts installers on projects across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the greater New York City metropolitan area.

The purchased installation capacity represents at least 15% to 40% of Flooring Concepts’ luxury vinyl tile work over the next three years.

Human Friendly Robotics said Tyler is designed to increase commercial flooring installation capacity by handling repetitive tile placement while skilled workers remain responsible for cuts, edges, finishing and quality control.

The company says the system can enable professionals to complete work up to eight times faster while reducing the physical strain associated with repeated kneeling, bending, lifting and tile placement.

Flooring Concepts will pay for Tyler based on square footage installed rather than buying the robotic equipment outright.

The agreement comes as construction companies continue to contend with skilled labor shortages. Human Friendly Robotics said Tyler has already been deployed at dozens of job sites across the New York City metropolitan area and Puerto Rico, including schools, malls and government buildings.

Flooring Concepts also has substantial work already scheduled for 2028, giving the company an incentive to expand installation capacity with its existing workforce.

The agreement follows Starnet Commercial Flooring’s decision to welcome Human Friendly Robotics as a robotics service provider within its network of roughly 200 member subcontractors, which collectively represent at least $4 billion in annual sales.

KEY QUOTES:

“Tyler multiplies a tile setter’s efficiency and output. Our customers have more work than their crews can fulfill. We give skilled professionals a tool to complete their work 8X faster, and without tiring. Ultimately, we’re reducing physical strain and helping tile setters build longer careers in the trade.”

Shamoon Siddiqui, CEO of Human Friendly Robotics

“Growing our business starts with supporting our people. Tyler will help us expand capacity, improve scheduling and reduce some of the hardest physical demands on our crews. Thankfully, I can just pay per square foot of install instead of purchasing the equipment. It’s an investment in our workforce and our customers without undue capital expenditures.”
