Humana announced it is committing more than $1.7 million in strategic investments to support housing stability, workforce development, maternal and behavioral healthcare access, and efforts to reduce health disparities across Illinois.

The funding aligns with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services’ priorities and builds on Humana’s broader focus on addressing health-related social needs through partnerships with community-based organizations.

According to the company, the new grants increase Humana’s total investment in Illinois to more than $3 million, following earlier funding aimed at addressing urgent needs such as food and housing instability.

The 2026 grant recipients include a range of organizations working across behavioral health, maternal care, rural health access, and workforce development:

Brightpoint’s Schubert Family Wellness Center, located at Schubert Elementary School in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood, will continue embedding a school-based hub that provides behavioral health services, family supports, wraparound care, and prevention-focused programming.

The Illinois Public Health Association will support the Forward 4 Families Hub, which is building a statewide Community Health Worker infrastructure focused on maternal and child health. The initiative embeds community health workers in high-disparity counties to help residents navigate prenatal care, postpartum coverage, and social needs.

The Illinois Rural Health Association will address the shortage of dentists in rural areas by funding five dental scholarships at Southern Illinois University for students who commit to practicing in medically underserved rural communities.

The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Behavioral Health Workforce Center will expand licensed behavioral health workforce pipelines across central and southern Illinois and deliver Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes collaboratives to extend specialist support into rural communities.

National Alliance on Mental Illness Illinois will expand behavioral health awareness, peer support, and school-based education programs statewide, with youth initiatives embedded in both rural and urban communities.

SIHF Healthcare will lead community health worker-driven chronic disease management efforts in the Metro East region, aligning with state Health Transformation Collaboratives.

Humana said its latest investments reflect its experience in delivering integrated healthcare to populations with complex social needs, including food insecurity. In connection with its Fully Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan in Illinois, the company has previously provided grants to organizations such as Feeding Illinois and the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

The company operates nationwide through its insurance offerings and its CenterWell healthcare services platform, serving Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, families, individuals, and military service personnel.
