Humanity, a company that is focused on discovering how to slow your aging, increase your immune health, and help all humanity, announced it has raised $2.5 million in funding. The $2.5 million round of funding was led by One Way Ventures and the tech angel investor Esther Dyson.
Humanity is also planning to combine digital and biomedical biomarkers into a consumer app that will launch next year, according to TechCrunch. Founded by Peter Ward (who founded WAYN) and Michael Geer (formerly of Badoo) are focused on helping humanity live healthier.
And the goal of the company is to give users the option to see their “actual rate of aging” in order to determine which actions have been working so that they could reverse the aging process.
George Church and Aubrey de Grey are included on the Science Advisory Board of the company. Church is a renowned geneticist and chemist who is a Robert Winthrop Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, Professor of Health Sciences and Technology at Harvard and MIT, and a founding member of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. And De Grey is a biomedical gerontologist — who is the Chief Science Officer of the SENS Research Foundation and VP of New Technology Discovery at AgeX Therapeutics.
Humanity is currently testing the Alpha product on several hundred users. And they claim to have “thousands” of people waiting to gain early access. The app is launching in the U.K. and the U.S. in early 2021 followed by a global rollout in 2022.
KEY QUOTES:
“The scientists of the world are focusing more and more on aging science, which is thankfully accelerating breakthroughs exponentially. However, we still need better vehicles to deliver these discoveries directly to the people. That is what Humanity is poised to do and why I am so excited to support them on this mission.”
— Aubrey de Grey
“We’re proud to be leading this round and backing this extraordinary team, along with a number of other great investors including leading funds and angels in the consumer tech and health space. We believe in the Humanity mission and clearly the timing could not be better for people to get access to such a product.”
— Semyon Dukach, the managing partner of Humanity’s lead investor One Way Ventures
“Many people feel helpless when it comes to avoiding disease and slowing down the aging process. In the COVID-19 world, where we all now clearly understand that risk increases significantly with age and poor health, people’s number one question is, rightly, ‘what actions can I take each day to stay healthy and for much longer?’”
— Peter Ward
“People have never had an accurate clear feedback loop to help them know whether what they’re doing to be healthier was really working or not. We want to finally give them that superpower.”
— Michael Geer
