Huntington Ingalls Receives $99.1 Million Navy Contract Modification For DDG 1002 Sea Trials

Huntington Ingalls has received a $99.1 million modification to a previously awarded U.S. Navy contract to support sea trials associated with DDG 1002.

The $99,089,863 modification applies to contract N00024-22-C-2300 and increases the contract ceiling to incorporate the DDG 1002 Sea Trials scope. The additional work represents another phase of activity tied to the vessel as the Navy advances testing and evaluation efforts.

Approximately 95% of the work will be performed in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where Huntington Ingalls maintains major shipbuilding operations. The remaining 5% will be distributed across other locations, with each individual location accounting for less than 1% of the total work.

The Navy expects work covered by the modification to be completed by October 2028.

At the time of the award, approximately $59.3 million in shipbuilding and conversion funding will be obligated. The funding includes $28,355,651 in fiscal 2025 Shipbuilding and Conversion, Navy funds, representing approximately 48% of the amount being obligated, and $30,959,605 in fiscal 2026 Shipbuilding and Conversion, Navy funds, representing the remaining 52%.

The obligated funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year, allowing the Navy to apply the funding across the planned execution period for the contract work.

The modification specifically adds the DDG 1002 Sea Trials scope to the existing contract ceiling. Sea trials are a critical part of the shipbuilding and testing process, providing an opportunity to evaluate vessel performance and associated systems under operational conditions before later program milestones.

The award continues Huntington Ingalls’ work supporting U.S. Navy shipbuilding programs from its Pascagoula operations, which will account for the overwhelming majority of activity under the modification.

The Program Acquisition Executive Maritime in Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity for the award.
