Huntsman Corporation announced the sale of Huntsman Gomet, its Italy-based automotive aftermarket business, to Trelleborg Group for €42.5 million, approximately $50 million, subject to customary post-closing adjustments. The transaction represents another step in Huntsman’s ongoing efforts to streamline its portfolio and strengthen its balance sheet.
Huntsman Gomet is located in Azeglio, Italy, and manufactures molded rubber and thermoplastic components for the automotive aftermarket sector. The business has operated within Huntsman’s Polyurethanes division and serves customers requiring specialized replacement parts and components for automotive applications. Huntsman acquired Gomet in 2014 as part of its acquisition of Rockwood Holdings’ performance additives and titanium dioxide businesses.
According to Huntsman, Gomet generated approximately €24 million in revenue during 2025. The company said the proceeds from the sale will be used to reduce outstanding borrowings, supporting Huntsman’s broader capital allocation and debt reduction objectives.
The transaction highlights continued consolidation and strategic portfolio repositioning within the automotive components and specialty manufacturing sectors. For Trelleborg Group, the acquisition expands its capabilities and product offerings in the automotive aftermarket segment, while providing additional manufacturing and customer relationships in Europe.
Huntsman received advisory support throughout the transaction process. Houlihan Lokey served as financial advisor to the company, while Freshfields LLP acted as legal counsel.
