HYFIX: $15 Million Seed Round To Build American-Made Chips For Drones And Robotics

HYFIX Spatial Intelligence announced it has raised $15 million in a seed funding round to develop U.S.-manufactured chips designed to power next-generation drones and autonomous robotic systems. The round was led by Craft Ventures, with participation from Catapult Ventures, Multicoin Capital, Finality Capital, and Sky Dayton.

HYFIX is developing a highly integrated system-on-a-chip platform that consolidates key drone and robotics components, including flight control, positioning, communications, and compute, into a single secure and low-power architecture. The approach is designed to replace fragmented hardware stacks that currently rely on multiple components, many of which are sourced from foreign suppliers.

The company aims to address growing concerns around supply chain risk, security, and reliability in autonomous systems, particularly as regulatory pressure increases on the use of foreign-made drone components in the U.S. market.

By integrating multiple functions into a unified silicon platform, HYFIX’s technology enables manufacturers to build smaller, lighter, and more efficient systems while reducing development complexity and cost. The platform is designed to support a wide range of applications, including consumer drones, public-sector and defense systems, and commercial use cases such as inspection, mapping, and delivery.

The chip also incorporates advanced capabilities such as centimeter-level positioning through integration with real-time kinematic networks and support for open-source ecosystems including ROS 2, ArduPilot, and PX4, enabling high-precision performance in GPS-denied or contested environments.

HYFIX plans to deliver production-ready chips to select customers later this year and is developing a reference drone platform to demonstrate its capabilities.

The funding reflects increasing investor interest in domestic semiconductor innovation and the broader push to localize critical technology infrastructure supporting autonomous systems.

KEY QUOTES:

“There is currently no end-to-end American supply chain for drones. HYFIX is tackling one of the most critical pieces, custom silicon, so U.S. companies can build world-class autonomous systems without depending on foreign technology stacks.”

Jeff Fluhr, Venture Partner, Craft Ventures

“Whether you’re building a palm-sized consumer drone or a heavy-lift autonomous system, the underlying problems are the same: power, precision, reliability, and security. We’re giving builders a single silicon foundation that scales across use cases instead of forcing them to stitch together fragile systems from dozens of suppliers.”
