Enterprise Content Management Platform Company Hygraph Raises $30 Million

By Annie Baker • Apr 2, 2023

Hygraph – a federated enterprise content management platform – announced it has raised $30 million in Series B funding led by One Peak to accelerate the next generation of content management for the era of composable architectures Existing investors Open Ocean, along with Peak, SquareOne, and new business angel, Boris Lokschin (Co-Founder and CEO of Spryker Systems), also joined in this new round, bringing the total funding to $43.7 million.

The demand for connected digital services does not show any signs of slowing down, but building everything custom can be costly and an innovation bottleneck. And organizations not only need to distribute content to multiple devices, but they also need to access and serve up content from a wide variety of disconnected sources. Hygraph’s federated content platform represents the next generation of content management – which powers a many-to-many relationship between different content sources and devices.

This Series B funding round will be used to support Hygraph’s ongoing platform innovation and to scale the company’s go-to-market, with a particular focus on North America. And earlier in 2022, the company rebranded from GraphCMS to Hygraph, representing a next step in their vision to power the next generation of content management. Plus the company introduced Content Federation, a new platform capability enabling organizations to unify all their backend services into one universal content API and serve third-party or programmatically created content alongside editorial content.

Now Hygraph is used by digital teams globally, including Dr. Oetker, Shure, Samsung, Ashley Furniture and Philips. Based in Berlin, Hygraph employs 66 people from across the globe; spread across 5 continents, 18 countries, and 26 nationalities.

KEY QUOTES:

“In the same way the headless CMS changed content distribution, Hygraph is disrupting the integration of content and data to enable the creation of new digital services and business models in the content economy. Our new funding round will allow us to further scale our business, as we aim to do for content management what the likes of MuleSoft did for integration.”

— Michael Lukaszczyk, CEO and Co-Founder at Hygraph

Despite the rise of the composable enterprise, many organizations are unable to unlock full value from their content. Hygraph solves the customization and integration challenges that continue to slow the creation of new or complex digital services at scale. We have been hugely impressed with Hygraph’s strong and capital-efficient growth trajectory and believe that its federated content platform presents a sizeable market opportunity. One Peak is incredibly excited to back the excellent Hygraph team and its founders in their next phase of explosive growth.”
