IBM Ventures Invests In BQP As Total Funding Reaches $8 Million

BQP has received a strategic investment from IBM Ventures, bringing the physics acceleration company’s total funding to $8 million. Venn10 Capital and existing investor Monta Vista Capital also participated. The investment extends a technical relationship between BQP and IBM that began in 2023 when BQP joined the IBM Quantum Network.

BQP plans to use the capital to expand its BQPhy platform from engineering design into operational deployments, scale delivery and go-to-market capabilities, and expand beyond aerospace and defense.

Since its 2025 seed round, BQP has increased contracted and committed revenue eightfold, tripled its customer base and grown platform users by 20 times.

BQPhy is designed to accelerate high-fidelity physics simulations by using GPU computing capacity that conventional physics solvers leave underutilized. BQP said traditional solvers can leave roughly 85% of a GPU’s floating-point capacity idle because the underlying methods are constrained by memory access rather than computing power.

The platform includes QuantumNOW, which is already operating on customers’ CPU and GPU infrastructure, and QuantumMAX, a quantum-native solver under development for heterogeneous CPU-GPU-QPU execution. BQPhy integrates with MATLAB and provides APIs for Python, Julia and other frameworks.

BQP’s aerospace and defense work includes an SBIR with the U.S. Space Force and SpaceWERX. The company said BQPhy can propagate a catalog of more than 3,000 space objects in under one second, approximately 250 times faster than the open-source Orekit solver.

BQP also has a cooperative research and development agreement with the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Aerospace Systems Directorate and has demonstrated its technology for tactical-edge radio frequency applications with NavalX. The company is also applying the platform to EV battery thermal management and other energy applications.
