ID Signsystems has been acquired by entrepreneur James Van Thof, marking a new phase of investment and expansion for the Rochester‑based architectural signage and branded environments firm. The company will continue operating under its established brand and team while focusing on scaling capacity, enhancing technology and pursuing both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Founded in 2005 by Paul Dudley and Katrina Beatty, IDS has built a national reputation for creative design, high‑quality fabrication and seamless project execution across corporate, healthcare, education, hospitality and commercial environments. Under Van Thof’s leadership, the company plans to strengthen its position as a fully integrated design‑build partner with an emphasis on accountability and execution at scale.
As part of the transition, co‑founder Paul Dudley will remain involved as Strategic Advisor and Brand Ambassador, supporting key client relationships and guiding the creative vision that has shaped IDS for more than two decades. The company’s growth strategy includes expanding geographic reach, increasing production capacity and acquiring complementary businesses to broaden its capabilities.
