IDL Raises $15 Million Series A To Expand Global Professional Dance League

International Dance League (IDL) has raised $15 million in Series A funding to expand its global professional dance league following a debut season that sold out all six events and generated 2 billion social views. The funding round was led by Elysian Park Ventures, with participation from Sony Group Corporation, Sony Corporation, KB Partners, APEX, Yamaha Music Innovations Fund, and October Ventures. The new capital will support IDL’s expansion ahead of its 2027 season, including larger events, enhanced broadcast and digital production, stronger operational infrastructure for teams and dancers, and new fan experiences.

IDL launched its inaugural season in May 2026 with six founding teams representing dance communities around the world: Brotherhood from Vancouver, Quick Style from Oslo, Jam Republic from Singapore, 1MILLION from Seoul, Royal Family from Auckland, and GRV from Los Angeles.

The teams competed at events in New York, Vancouver, Sydney, Seoul, and Los Angeles. The season concluded at the sold-out Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, where GRV became the league’s first Season Champion.

IDL said all six events during its first season sold out. Along with generating 2 billion social views, the league recorded 6 million livestream views and secured its first media rights agreement with ESPN2. It also established partnerships with Honda and e.l.f. Cosmetics.

The league is built around a season-long professional sports model for competitive dance. Teams compete through head-to-head matchups and season standings, creating ongoing rivalries and championship stakes rather than treating individual dance competitions as standalone events.

IDL plans to use the Series A funding to build on the demand demonstrated during its first season. Investments will include expanded tour operations, larger venues, broadcast infrastructure, digital production, dancer and team operations, fan engagement initiatives, and development of a broader commercial ecosystem around professional dance.

All six founding teams are expected to return for the 2027 season. IDL has not yet announced the schedule or host cities.

The investment also gives IDL additional resources to develop dance as a professional spectator sport with a global league structure. The company’s strategy is centered on elevating dancers as professional athletes and personalities while creating media, sponsorship, and live-event opportunities around their teams and competitions.

KEY QUOTES:

“This season proved what we believed from the beginning: dance has the audience, the athletes and the global culture to support a professional sports ecosystem of its own. What has historically been missing is the infrastructure around it. This investment gives us the ability to continue to grow by building stronger team and dancer operations, hosting events in larger venues to meet fan demand, and ultimately creating a bigger stage for the sport.”

Connor Lim, CEO, Commissioner And Co-Founder Of IDL

“IDL’s rapid growth and innovative strategy within sports remain key components to Elysian Park’s decision to once again participate in this fundraise. We are confident in the management team’s ability to execute a long-term vision by finding new ways to disrupt the sports media landscape, while building a brand that captures the imagination of a next generation audience.”
