- San Diego based holographic ecosystem company IKIN announced that the 3D holographic platform RYZ will be coming next year
- IKIN also raised more than $5 million in private funding
- And Chuck Oakley as been appointed as VP of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management
IKIN, a San Diego-based company that makes high-quality and affordable holographic eco-systems, made several major announcements recently. The company announced a new form of Holographic Augmented Reality (HAR) called RYZ to be introduced next year. And IKIN revealed that it raised over $5 million in private funding.
IKIN’s new form of Holographic Augmented Reality (HAR) is going to be called RYZ and it will utilize a new visual environment technology called “photon mapping.” The RYZ platform will provide every user and developer with the unique ability to map volumetric holographic projections over carefully analyzed environments, thus creating a unique visual experience and it will allow them to manipulate their personal environments in ways that have not been seen before.
“With the introduction of RYZ we are excited to show the world a completely new way of interacting with holographic technology right in the palm of their hands,” said IKIN CEO Joe Ward in a statement. “We firmly believe that the launch of RYZ will lead to significant advances in visual technology and will impact how both consumers and businesses leverage it.”
RYZ will enable vivid and immersive free-standing holograms with lifelike sharpness of light to be generated from the user’s smartphone — which can be recorded and replayed. And the holograms will be volumetric and manipulatable so that people can interact with 3D images as if they were real-life objects. Plus RYZ will also give consumers the opportunity to convert any 2D image into 3D holograms.
“Humanity is at the heart of everything that we do,” added IKIN CTO and founder Taylor Griffith. “RYZ is the first of a suite of products which we believe will revolutionize how content is created and viewed and will change how humankind interacts with technology.”
IKIN also announced that it appointed Chuck Oakley as the VP of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management. Oakley has more than 20 years of experience in similar roles. And Oakley was most recently the VP of Customer Service for Mitel where he provided an overall direction, oversight, and performance of “customer facing” operations and supply chain management activities like order fulfillment, logistics, service inventory management, contract negotiations, and post-sales warranty.
“I am excited to join Joe and the rest of the IKIN team on IKIN’s RYZ product,” explained Oakley. “Leveraging my many years of experience to help IKIN create and launch the first and only holographic open source community in the world.”
