Boyang Wang’s Background

When asked about his background and the focus of Immortal Dragons, Wang shared:

I’m the founder and CEO of Immortal Dragons, a $40 million purpose-driven longevity fund headquartered in Singapore, investing in pre-seed to Series A longevity biotech startups.

As a geographic agnostic fund, we have a strong preference for underfunded moonshot projects, the ones that have strong potential and are typically overlooked by traditional ventures. Our investment thesis falls into replacement strategy, gene therapy & delivery vector, brain rejuvenation and regulatory arbitrage.

Beyond conventional investment, we also engage in many evangelism initiatives, including book translation & publishing, delivering talks and producing podcasts, sponsoring events and initiatives, and collaborating on research projects.

Evolving The Investment Thesis

When asked how the firm’s investment thesis has evolved over time, Wang explained:

When we started, the thesis was broad: longevity is underfunded and the science is finally ready. Over time it sharpened into something more specific: replacement, not repair.

The body has thousands of ways to break down, but only one way to work correctly. Patching individual failure modes is a long shot against more than 1,500 known diseases documented by Mayo Clinic, which almost half of those diseases have no known cure.

The more durable bet is on technologies that replace failing components entirely: engineered tissues, organ biofabrication, gene therapies that rewrite the underlying code.

That shift in framing changed how we evaluate companies. We’re not looking for better Band-Aids. We’re looking for the teams building the infrastructure for biological replacement at scale.

Longevity Becoming Mainstream

When asked about his favorite memories working at Immortal Dragons, Wang said:

Seeing longevity become more mainstream in many medical conferences and conversations are my favorite moments, ever since I started longevity investment in late 2023.

The moment that stood out most recently was New Hampshire passing HB701, giving terminally ill patients the legal right to try therapies that haven’t gone through FDA approval.

That’s not a small thing. That’s the regulatory wall starting to crack. It tells me the ideas we’ve been backing aren’t just scientifically valid, they’re beginning to find political and social permission as well.

That’s when a movement becomes real.

Major Firm Milestones

When asked about some of Immortal Dragons’ most significant milestones, Wang highlighted:

Getting to the table at the right conferences, ARDD, Vitalist Bay, and others, as a sponsor, not just an attendee. That shifted how the broader longevity community saw us, and opened doors to relationships that matter.

Finding the right model for funding academic research. We’ve been able to support labs at Stanford, Columbia, and Oxford in ways that actually move work forward. That took time to figure out, and getting it right was a real milestone for us.

And on the investment side, backing companies like Frontier Bio, Unlimited Bio, and Etheros Pharmaceutical, meeting founders who are genuinely doing the work and have real scientific conviction. That’s the part that reminds you why you’re doing this.

Frontier Bio Investment

When asked to share a specific investment success story, Wang detailed:

Frontier Bio is a biofabrication company building replacement human tissues, starting with blood vessels, with the long-term mission of eliminating the global organ transplant waitlist.

The clinical case for this work is already being made. Humacyte’s engineered vascular graft recently received FDA approval, establishing a regulatory precedent that tissue-engineered vessels can reach patients.

On the organ side, xenotransplantation has crossed into human territory. Pig kidneys have now functioned inside human patients for over six months, with the field actively working to extend that to one year, two years, and beyond while driving down cost and surgical risk.

The infrastructure for biological replacement medicine is being built in real time.

Frontier Bio’s core technology is a single-surgery scaffold approach. Rather than requiring weeks of in vitro culture, their proprietary process allows a surgeon to isolate the patient’s own adipose-derived stem cells, seed them onto a degradable polymer scaffold, and implant the living graft, all in one continuous procedure.

As the scaffold safely degrades, the cells take over and remodel the graft into a natural blood vessel. Early large animal results showed 100% acute patency at 14 days with early endothelialization, a key indicator for long-term durability.

The company won Best Paper at the 50th Annual VESS meeting, selected over entries from Stanford and Humacyte’s own clinical data, which reflects the scientific rigor of the platform.

Frontier Bio is currently advancing toward first-in-human clinical trials.

Competitive Differentiation

When asked what differentiates Immortal Dragons from other investment firms, Wang emphasized:

First, we’re purpose-driven and self-funded. This isn’t a fund built around LP returns as the primary motivation. I put my own capital in because I genuinely believe this is the most important problem we can work on.

That changes how we make decisions. We can take longer time horizons, back moonshots, and support work that a returns-first fund wouldn’t touch.

Second, the portfolio reflects that. We’re not hedging into safer adjacent bets. We’re deliberately concentrated in radical longevity science. Gene therapy, organ biofabrication, biological replacement. The kind of work where, if it succeeds, it actually changes what it means to grow old.

Third, we see ourselves as evangelists, not just investors.
