InfoHawk, an AI platform focused on detecting and neutralizing online deception, announced it has raised $2.25 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Moonshots Capital.
The company was founded by Rob Leathern, Ben Poiesz, and Jamie McCrindle to address the rapidly growing threat of online fraud, scams, and digital impersonation. According to the company, consumers worldwide lost an estimated $442 billion to scams in 2025, while counterfeit goods account for an additional estimated $467 billion in annual economic losses.
InfoHawk believes advances in artificial intelligence are accelerating the scale and sophistication of fraud by enabling bad actors to quickly replicate legitimate websites, videos, and digital assets. The company noted that brands are increasingly being impersonated online, while enterprise employees are facing threats from deepfakes and account compromise attacks.
To address these challenges, InfoHawk has developed a platform that detects, analyzes, and helps neutralize online deception at scale. Delivered through APIs, the platform combines content detection capabilities with infrastructure mapping technology to help enterprises identify scams, digital fraud, and impersonation campaigns targeting their customers and brands.
The funding round was led by Moonshots Capital and included a group of angel investors with backgrounds in technology, regulation, cybersecurity, and digital advertising. Participants included former Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz, AppNexus founder Brian O’Kelley, former Meta advertising executive Rob Goldman, Centigrade founder and CEO James Walker, former Google ads safety and privacy executive Scott Spencer, GitHub CTO Vlad Fedorov, and former WhatsApp Vice President of Product Nikila Srinivasan.
InfoHawk plans to use the funding to expand its efforts to provide intelligence and infrastructure for identifying and combating online scams, fraud networks, and AI-powered deception campaigns.
