Inhouse: $5 Million Raised For AI Legal Platform For Business Owners

By Amit Chowdhry • Mar 5, 2026

Inhouse announced it has raised $5 million in seed funding to expand its AI platform designed to help business owners handle legal work more efficiently. The round was backed by Run Ventures, Royal Street Ventures, Switch, and Brian Liu, the cofounder and former CEO of LegalZoom.

Founded in 2025, Inhouse provides an AI-driven legal platform aimed at small and midsize businesses. The system helps users draft contracts, research legal questions, and connect with attorneys when human review or negotiation is required. According to the company, the platform has already supported hundreds of thousands of users across business operations and legal workflows.

The company differentiates itself from generic large language models by integrating expert legal oversight directly into the product. Inhouse maintains a network of more than 8,000 AI-enabled lawyers spanning all 50 U.S. states and multiple practice areas. Feedback from these lawyers is used to refine the platform’s AI models and improve accuracy for real-world legal scenarios.

The company’s founders include Ryan Wenger, a corporate attorney and second-time entrepreneur, and Aarshay Jain, an AI engineer who previously worked at Spotify. Inhouse partners with national law firms including Baker Hostetler, Morgan & Morgan, and Imhoff & Associates to support legal review, negotiation, and filing when needed.

Small businesses collectively spend an estimated $50 billion each year on legal services, but many companies struggle to access traditional law firms due to high costs. Inhouse aims to address this gap by automating legal research and document generation while allowing human lawyers to step in when necessary.

With the new funding, the company plans to expand its AI agent capabilities and further automate areas such as contract lifecycle management, compliance workflows, and proactive risk management. The platform currently supports businesses across industries including healthcare, construction, real estate, property management, technology, cannabis, and SaaS.

KEY QUOTES

“LLMs are unreliable at legal work because nonlawyers regularly omit critical context or ask for the wrong documents. We were able to build AI that challenges and corrects like a real lawyer through our unique dataset of expert feedback on real-world fact patterns.”
Ryan Wenger, Cofounder And CEO Of Inhouse

“When we built LegalZoom, we digitized legal forms. Inhouse is automating legal reasoning. Although small businesses spend $50 billion annually on legal services, the high costs keep traditional firms out of reach for many of them. Today, AI is delivering a better experience and further democratizing access to the law.”
Brian Liu, Cofounder And Former CEO Of LegalZoom And Investor In Inhouse
