Instinct Science Acquires ScribbleVet To Build An Intelligence-Native Veterinary Practice Management Platform

Instinct Science, an animal health technology company best known for its Instinct EMR veterinary practice management system and clinical tools including Standards of Care, Plumb’s and Clinician’s Brief, has acquired ScribbleVet, an AI scribing platform for veterinarians. The companies say the combination is intended to create what Instinct describes as the industry’s first “clinical intelligence platform,” integrating AI documentation, workflow automation and point-of-care clinical decision support into a single system for veterinary teams.

The acquisition brings ScribbleVet’s AI scribing capabilities directly into Instinct’s practice management workflow, with the goal of reducing administrative burden and enabling hands-free documentation during patient visits. Instinct said the combined offering is designed to go beyond traditional record-keeping by embedding clinical intelligence and adaptive workflows that better match how modern veterinary practices operate.

As part of the deal, ScribbleVet’s team will join Instinct Science. ScribbleVet founder and CEO Rohan Relan is expected to take on a leadership role focused on product strategy for intelligence products across the broader Instinct platform.

Instinct said the integrated platform is being built to help veterinary hospitals and staff spend more time on patients by streamlining note-taking and reducing documentation friction. The company also emphasized that clinical decision support, including Plumb’s, will be available at the point of care within the same system used by doctors, technicians and support staff.

In the near term, both companies said customers will continue using Instinct and ScribbleVet as they do today, with no immediate changes. Over time, Instinct plans to introduce deeper integrations to unify AI scribing, workflow and clinical intelligence into a single experience, and ScribbleVet is expected to become the first AI scribe powered by Plumb’s. Instinct also said it will continue supporting multiple AI scribe integrations, while ScribbleVet will continue supporting multiple practice information management system integrations.

Instinct, founded in 2017 by emergency veterinarian Dr. Caleb Frankel, said it serves more than 360,000 veterinary professionals worldwide through its software and clinical tools. ScribbleVet said it serves thousands of veterinarians and is designed to automate note-taking to help reduce burnout and improve workflow efficiency. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
