Integrated Power Services acquired Belyea Company, an Easton, Pennsylvania-based provider of medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment, portable substations, and related services.
The acquisition expands the IPS Electrification platform with additional capabilities across high-voltage transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, portable substations, and field services.
Belyea operates one of the larger inventories of remanufactured high-voltage equipment in the U.S. and serves utility, industrial, commercial, and data center customers.
The company sources surplus 69 to 230kV transformers, SF6 circuit breakers, switchgear, and instrument transformers from utilities and industrial customers.
Belyea refurbishes and resells the equipment with warranties and also engineers and builds portable substations for rental applications.
Those portable substations are used to support outages, temporary construction power, grid modernization projects, and interconnection needs.
Belyea also provides commissioning, decommissioning, repair, and field services with 24/7 availability.
The company operates from a 150,000-square-foot facility in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Founded in 1908, Belyea is led by members of the third and fourth generations of the Belyea family.
Shep Belyea and Steve Belyea will continue with the business as Directors following the transaction.
Leon Belyea, representing the fourth generation of family leadership, will remain Engineering Manager.
Belyea will operate within IPS’s Electrification division.
The business will be led operationally by Dameon Kincey, Area General Manager, reporting to Tony Locker, Senior Vice President of Product Solutions.
IPS said the deal addresses growing demand for high-voltage equipment at a time when new transformers and breakers can carry lead times of two years or more.
The combination is intended to give customers faster access to replacement equipment while also adding portable substation rental to IPS’s existing replacement solutions portfolio.
Belyea’s inventory and engineering capabilities will be connected with IPS’s network of more than 110 locations, NETA-certified field service teams, and transformer Centers of Excellence.
IPS believes the combination will help it provide more complete lifecycle support, including equipment sourcing, temporary substations, field service, and long-term reliability solutions.
The acquisition also gives Belyea access to IPS’s scale, capital resources, and national sales network as it looks to expand its high-voltage equipment and portable substation business.
