Intel announced two executive leadership appointments aimed at strengthening its client computing business and advancing the company’s long-term AI and emerging technology strategy.

The company named Alex Katouzian as executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing and Physical AI Group. Intel also appointed Pushkar Ranade as chief technology officer following his interim tenure in the role.

Katouzian will oversee Intel’s client computing operations while helping align the company’s strategy around physical AI systems, including robotics, autonomous machines, and AI-powered devices. He will report directly to Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan.

Katouzian joins Intel from Qualcomm Technologies, where he most recently served as executive vice president and group general manager of mobile, compute, and extended reality operations. Intel said Katouzian brings decades of experience in developing and scaling global compute platforms.

Intel said the appointment reflects growing opportunities in edge AI, AI PCs, and physical AI systems as artificial intelligence reshapes computing infrastructure and user experiences.

Ranade, who had been serving as interim CTO, will now permanently lead Intel’s technology strategy and special technology initiatives. His responsibilities include overseeing development efforts in quantum computing, neuromorphic computing, photonics, and advanced materials research.

In addition to his CTO role, Ranade will continue serving as chief of staff to CEO Lip-Bu Tan in order to maintain alignment between Intel’s business priorities and long-term technology roadmap.

Both executives will report directly to Tan as Intel continues efforts to accelerate innovation across AI, edge computing, and next-generation semiconductor technologies.
