Intel has opened up its $3 billion expansion at the D1X fab in Oregon. The DX1 Mod3 expansion features 270,000 square feet of cleanroom space. And Intel noted that this extra capacity will be used for developing next-gen silicon process technology.
Plus Intel named the 500-acre campus at Ronler Acres in Oregon Gordon Moore Park. This campus was established about 25 years ago and now there are about 14,000 employees working there.
KEY QUOTE:
“This new factory space will bolster our ability to deliver the accelerated process roadmap required to support our bold IDM 2.0 strategy. Oregon is the longtime heart of our global semiconductor R&D, and I can think of no better way to honor Gordon Moore’s legacy than by bestowing his name on this campus, which, like him, has had such a tremendous role in advancing our industry.”
