Intuit To Acquire AI-Native Revenue Management Platform Sequence

Intuit has signed an agreement to acquire Sequence, an AI-native revenue management platform designed to automate the entire quote-to-revenue process for businesses. The acquisition will expand Intuit’s financial technology capabilities and strengthen its offerings for mid-market businesses through Intuit Enterprise Suite and QuickBooks Online Advanced.

Founded in 2021 and based in London and New York, Sequence provides a platform that automates revenue management workflows, including deal configuration, pricing, billing, invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition. The company focuses on helping business-to-business software providers and professional services firms manage increasingly complex revenue models.

The acquisition represents another step in Intuit’s strategy to develop an AI-native enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform for growing businesses. By incorporating Sequence’s technology, Intuit aims to provide customers with more comprehensive tools for managing revenue operations alongside their existing financial workflows.

Sequence’s platform replaces spreadsheets and manual billing processes with automated systems capable of handling multiple pricing and revenue structures. These include consumption-based, usage-based, seat-based, and milestone-based billing models, which have become increasingly important as software companies adopt subscription services, AI consumption pricing, and hybrid commercial arrangements.

For businesses operating under these models, revenue management can involve coordinating customer contracts, tracking product usage, calculating charges, issuing invoices, collecting payments, and recognizing revenue. These processes can become more complicated as companies expand their customer bases, introduce new pricing structures, and operate across multiple business lines.

Sequence addresses these challenges by integrating revenue-related activities into a unified platform. Its technology also incorporates AI agents designed to automate routine financial tasks while working alongside finance teams.

Through the acquisition, Intuit expects to bring these capabilities to a broader customer base, particularly businesses that have outgrown basic accounting software but want alternatives to traditional enterprise resource planning systems.

The addition of Sequence will also enable Intuit to expand further into industries such as B2B software and professional services, where revenue arrangements frequently involve variable consumption, usage commitments, recurring subscriptions, and project-based milestones.

These industries represent an opportunity for Intuit Enterprise Suite as the company works to serve larger organizations with more sophisticated operational and financial requirements.

Sequence already supports revenue automation for several rapidly growing AI companies. Its experience serving businesses with complex pricing models is expected to complement Intuit’s broader financial technology platform and its investments in artificial intelligence.

As part of the transaction, Sequence’s team will join Intuit, including co-founder and CEO Riya Grover, who will become part of Intuit’s Mid-Market product organization.

The addition of Sequence’s engineering talent and revenue management expertise is expected to support the development of more advanced financial automation capabilities across Intuit’s business software portfolio.

Intuit plans to continue supporting Sequence’s existing customers following the acquisition’s completion. The company also intends to make Sequence’s capabilities available through its broader platform and develop an integrated offering over the coming months.

The acquisition aligns with Intuit’s broader efforts to combine financial data, artificial intelligence, and automation to help businesses manage increasingly complex operations. By extending its capabilities beyond traditional accounting and financial management, Intuit is positioning its enterprise offerings to address more of the operational requirements of growing mid-market companies.

For Sequence, joining Intuit provides access to an established financial technology platform, a larger customer base, and additional resources to expand the adoption of its revenue automation technology.

The transaction also reflects the growing importance of AI-native financial infrastructure as businesses seek to reduce manual administrative work, improve revenue visibility, and manage increasingly sophisticated commercial arrangements.

KEY QUOTES:

“As businesses grow, pricing, billing, and collecting on complex usage-based and milestone-based revenue becomes one of the biggest reasons they choose an ERP. Sequence will let us deliver mature revenue management to customers, further extending Intuit Enterprise Suite directly into industries that increasingly leverage AI consumption models like B2B software and professional services. It’s a meaningful step forward as we deliver a powerful, AI-native ERP for growing, complex businesses.”

Ashley Still, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Small Business & Mid-Market Group at Intuit

“Revenue management has long been the most fragmented workflow in the back office. As businesses adopt usage-based and hybrid pricing, that complexity is only growing. We built Sequence to automate the entire process, from contract to revenue recognition, with AI agents automating daily tasks and working securely alongside finance teams. With Intuit’s platform and reach, and our shared alignment on serving mid-market businesses and creating AI-driven financial workflows, this is a natural fit for both companies.”
